Elisabeth Coudoux

studied cello in Dresden and Cologne (Germany). She plays with renowned groups, especially in the field of improvised music, and has toured in Europe, Japan, America and Africa. Elisabeth Coudoux has won a prize from Musikakademie Meißen (Germany), and a scholarship from the European Academy for Music and Art in Montepulciano (Italy), and has been awarded the OMI Residency in New York (USA) in 2014. In 2016 the cultural office of Nordrheinwestfalen gave her the prize “Präsenz vor Ort.” Elisabeth has been playing with zeitkratzer since 2015.

Elisabeth has initiated and leads several projects, among them The Octopus Cello Quartet, and Collective IMPAKT. Her work has been released on numerous CDs, especially her solo cello album on Leo Records (2016).

Elisabeth plays an unsigned German cello which was discovered in the attic of a neighbor in her hometown of Glauchau, who generously offered her the instrument. Elisabeth has been living with the cello since the age of fifteen.
