Within the sphere of the electronic avantgarde there are umpteen musicians producing independently of institutionalized studios. They are characterized by radical and free ways of thinking as well as by new sound concepts.
zeitkratzer do mostly play amplified and therefore understand their performances as live-electronic music. Moreover zeitkratzer’s musicians employ themselves vigorously with their personal, highly spezialized instrumental techniques and sounds – that again are often influenced by the aesthetics of electronic music. These facts led zeitkratzer to collaborate with artists like Terre Thaemlitz , John Duncan, Carsten Nicolai and many others, who composed pieces for amplified instruments. About zeitkratzer’s latest release 'elctroniX' the magazine 'Sound Projector' wrote: "This is a fascinating experiment and a great pleasure ro listen to. Play the full 63 minutes and you're guaranteed to wind up in a trance of mesmerised bliss, watchin the gently-shifting, slowly rising and falling micro-patterns."
